PICE holds first-ever Joint BARMM and Region IX Technical Conference, over 800 delegates attended

Unfolding yet another milestone, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. (PICE) Zamboanga City Chapter and Sulu Chapter successfully organized the first-ever technical conference with over 800 on-site and virtual civil engineers across Region IX and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as delegates last May 11-12, 2023 at Palacio del Sur, Governor Camins, Zamboanga City.

A total of 497 on-site delegates and 329 virtual participants convened to learn new techniques in civil engineering profession. One of the main highlights of the event is the attendance of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Senior Undersecretary and PICE President-Elect Emil K. Sadain together with PICE National Officers and knowledgeable speakers.

DPWH Regional Director and PICE Region IX Regional Coordinator Cayamombao D. Dia and PICE BARMM Regional Coordinator Don Mustapha A. Loong were present, leading the DPWH District Engineers, Division and Section Chiefs from the region to fully support the said conference. The two-day event was full-packed featuring induction of PICE Sulu officers, fellowship night, and interesting lectures from the speakers.

The DPWH will continue to support technical conferences such as the ones hosted by the PICE as part of the civil engineer’s duties on expanding their knowledge in contributing to a better, improving application in the field.
